Effective Date: 19 August 2026
At Do-It-Solar, we want our customers to be satisfied with the products and services they purchase from us. This Refund & Returns Policy explains when products can be returned, when refunds may be issued, and how to request assistance.
This policy applies together with your rights under applicable South African consumer protection legislation, including the Consumer Protection Act (CPA).
Customers may request a return where a product qualifies for a return under this policy or applicable law.
Before returning any product, please contact Do-It-Solar so that we can provide the appropriate return instructions.
Products should, where reasonably possible, be returned:
Certain products may be subject to additional return requirements because of their nature or because they have been specially ordered or configured for a particular installation.
If your order arrives damaged, incomplete or different from what you ordered, please contact us as soon as possible.
We may request photographs, videos or other information to help us assess the issue.
Where the problem is confirmed to be our responsibility, we will work with you to arrange an appropriate remedy, which may include repair, replacement or refund where applicable.
If a product develops a fault, please contact us with details of the problem.
Depending on the circumstances and applicable warranty or consumer rights, we may arrange an inspection, repair, replacement or refund.
Products covered by a manufacturer’s warranty may also need to be assessed according to the manufacturer’s warranty conditions.
Solar systems are designed according to the customer’s property, electricity requirements and agreed installation specifications.
Because an installed solar system may involve site-specific design, equipment configuration, labour and installation work, completed installations cannot simply be returned in the same manner as an unused retail product.
If you believe that an installed system has a defect or that the installation has not been completed correctly, contact us so that we can inspect the system and determine the appropriate solution.
Where applicable, remedies will be provided in accordance with the agreed installation terms, manufacturer warranties and applicable South African consumer law.
A change-of-mind return may be accepted where the product qualifies under applicable consumer law and has not been installed, used, altered or damaged.
Specially ordered, customised or configured products may not be eligible for a change-of-mind return where permitted by law.
Nothing in this policy removes any mandatory consumer rights that apply to your purchase.
Solar installations may require a deposit before equipment is ordered or installation work is scheduled.
If you cancel an installation, the refund of any deposit will depend on the stage of the order, whether equipment has already been purchased or customised, work already completed, and the applicable terms of the quotation.
Any amount that cannot be refunded due to equipment already ordered, customised goods or work already performed will be explained to the customer.
Where applicable, statutory cancellation and cooling-off rights will continue to apply.
A return or refund may not be available where:
These exclusions do not limit rights that cannot legally be excluded under South African consumer legislation.
Once a return, cancellation or refund has been approved, we will process the refund using the appropriate payment method where reasonably possible.
Refund processing times may depend on the payment provider or financial institution involved.
We will advise the customer when the refund has been processed.
Where a return is required because we supplied an incorrect product, a defective product, or a product that was damaged before delivery, Do-It-Solar will determine the appropriate arrangements for the return.
Where a return is requested for another reason, the customer may be responsible for reasonable return or collection costs where permitted by law.
Product warranties are generally provided by the relevant manufacturer and are subject to the manufacturer’s warranty terms.
A warranty claim may require inspection of the product or system before a remedy is provided.
Warranty coverage does not normally extend to damage caused by misuse, unauthorised modification, incorrect installation, physical damage, abnormal operating conditions or other exclusions specified by the manufacturer.
To request a return, refund or warranty assessment, please contact Do-It-Solar and provide:
We will review the request and advise you of the next steps.
This policy is intended to operate alongside applicable South African consumer protection laws.
Nothing in this policy is intended to remove, restrict or waive a consumer right that cannot legally be excluded.
